Gwyneth Paltrow

Biography

A lithe, attractive performer, sexy Gwyneth Paltrow (see her nude here) began acting at age five with a walk-on and graduated to a role in a TV pilot produced by her father, Bruce Paltrow.

She made her theatrical debut in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and subsequently starred in the festival's productions of "Picnic", "The Sweet Bye and Bye" and "The Seagull" (all alongside her mother, Blythe Danner).

After her feature debut in the musical "Shout" (1991), she gave a brief but memorable performance as the young Wendy in Steven Spielberg's "Hook" (1991) before breaking through with a scene-stealing part as a tough grifter in "Flesh and Bone" (1993). In the Merchant-Ivory "Jefferson in Paris", Paltrow offered a vivid characterization as the president's daughter while "Seven" (both 1995) teamed her on (and briefly off) screen with Brad Pitt.

As "Emma" (1996) in Douglas McGrath's adaptation of the Jane Austen classic, she truly came into her own as a leading lady, replete with flawless British accent. She further employed that accent in "Sliding Doors", which explored the parallel life of a recently fired British woman and, more impressively, as a spirited, high-born 16th Century lady who becomes the Bard's muse in "Shakespeare in Love" (both 1998). In the latter, she proved truly luminous and her performance earned not only raves but brought her a Best Actress Oscar. Gwyneth Paltrow's nude pictures can be found here.

Since picking up her Academy Award, Paltrow has had her share of hits and misses. She was terrific as the woman who comes to suspect that Matt Damon may not be what he claims in "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (1999) and was directed by her father in the karaoke-themed "Duets" (2000). A cut from that film's soundtrack -- "Cruisin'" featuring her vocals with Huey Lewis -- led to a hit record on the Australian pop charts.

Teamed with former off-screen companion Ben Affleck in "Bounce" (also 2000), the actress undertook a rare blue-collar role as a widow who finds love with the man unwittingly responsible for her husband's death. She engendered some controversy when she donned a prosthetic fat suit for her role as a former Peace Corps worker in the Farelly brothers' comedy "Shallow Hal" (2001).

Gwyneth next gave a superb performance as the deadpan adopted daughter in a family of overachievers in "The Royal Tenenbaums" before tackling roles as a flight attendant in "A View from the Top" and an academic in "Possession" (both 2002).
