Anne Heche |
|
Biography A blonde, sterling-eyed rising actress, Anne Heche has roots in soap operas, but began to win notice in feature films in 1996 with roles as Demi Moore's imperiled friend in "The Juror" and as the love interest of Josh Charles in "Pie in the Sky". She began her career singing in dinner theatres before landing the dual role of good and evil twins on NBC's "Another World". During her four year stint (1988-1992), Heche won a number of awards, including a 1991 Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Younger Actress. After leaving the soap to pursue other avenues, Heche made some TV appearances until landing her first film role as Mary Jane Wilkes in the 1993 version of "The Adventures of Huck Finn". She went on to play the ingenue in James L Brooks' almost-musical "I'll Do Anything" and supported Melanie Griffith in the roundly-panned comedy "Milk Money" (both 1994). Heche won praise for her work in independent films like "Walking and Talking" (1996), Nicole Holofcener's drama about two best friends facing life changes as they approach 30 and studio fare including an acclaimed turn as Johnny Depp's wife in "Donnie Brasco" (1997). After playing a seismologist in "Volcano" (also 1997), Heche stunned Hollywood with her high profile romance with comedienne Ellen DeGeneres. Her film work continued, however, and she racked up good reviews as a presidential aide in the political satire "Wag the Dog" (1997) and as Harrison Ford's love interest in "Six Days, Seven Nights" (1998).
